形態特徵

• Perennial with short corm like rhizome clothed with dark brown scales and their fibrous remnants; roots rather rigid. Culms erect, rigid, coarse, 30-80 cm tall, trigonous, smooth.
• Leaves several, shorter than to equalling culm; blades linear, 3-12 mm wide, flattish, 3-costate, scabrous on margins, rather abruptly acute at apex; sheaths pale-green and eventually turning rusty brown.
• Corymbs decompound, diffuse; primary rays many, 7-12 cm long; leafy bracts 6-12, linear, 4-12 mm wide, longer than corymb. Spikelets sessile, digitate in groups of 2-6 at apices of secondary (or tertiary) raylets, linear-oblong to oblong, abruptly acute at apex, 3-7 mm long, 1.5-2 mm wide, slightly turgid, 6- to 12-flowered green or tinged with straw-colored; rachilla with narrow wings. Scales orbicular-ovate, 2 mm long, contracted above to an acute, recurved apex, herbaceous, 7- to 11-nerved, greenish and stained with straw-color or reddish brown, keel prominently ridged excurrent in a recurved cusp.
• Achenes elliptic, trigonous, 3/4 as long as glume, black-brown style short; stigmas 3. Stamens 3.
