形態特徵

Shrubs to 1.5 m tall; stems subquadrangular, glabrous.
Leaves membranaceous, ovate or ovate-lanceolate, 8–15 cm long, 3–6 cm wide, apex acuminate or acute, base narrowed and cuneate, margins entire or undulate, both surfaces nearly glabrous; petioles 1–3 cm long.
Flowers numerous, often secund. Spikes to 5 cm long, terminal or axillary, often crowded in large panicles, these forming a lax thyrse to 7 cm long; involucres obconical, ca. 8 mm long, shortly 2-lobed at apex, outer surface sparingly puberulent; bracteoles 2, spatulate; corolla reddish purple, ca. 2.5 cm long, puberulent outside, limb bilabiate, upper lip linear, lower lip triangularly obovate, 3-lobed at tip; stamens much exserted, filaments flat, to 1.2 cm long, glabrous; style glabrous, stigma shortly 2-lobed.
Capsule oblong-ovoid, ca. 1 cm long, glabrous; seeds 4 or few, elliptic, tuberculate.

台灣 : widely distributed in the central and south at low elevations.
