形態特徵

• Shrubs or climbers (?), usually glabrous, rarely with simple fulvous hairs; young branchlets hairy, without scales; thorns mostly wanting, if present, then small and recurved.
• leaves firmly herbaceous, persistent, concolorous, elongate, 5–12 cm long, 2–5.5 cm wide, narrowed toward apex, rounded and more or less acute at base, rarely subcordate, often slightly recurved along margins, midrib mostly sunken or flat or even raised basally, lateral veins 7–9 pairs, thin, veinlets obscure, glabrous, glabrescent or with brownish-gray hairs, hairs whitish beneath; petioles 0.5–2 cm long.
• Inflorescences 15 cm long, many-flowered, terminal (with leaves in the lower part) or axillary, without scales; flowers white, in subumbels or partly in panicles 1–2 cm long; sepals free in bud, subequal, concave, elliptic to orbicular, 0.2–0.4 cm long, 0.15–0.25 cm wide, persistent for a short time after anthesis, inner pair sometimes wider, margin wide, membranaceous; petals thin, oblong or ovate, 3–5 mm long, 1.5–2 mm wide; stamens 7–9(–12); gynophore 0.4–0.6 cm long, glabrous; ovary ovoid, less than 4 mm long, glabrous; placentas 4.
• Berry on a thin stipe, globose, 1.5–2(–2.5) cm across, not ponited, soft, fleshy, pericarp leathery, smooth, orange at maturity; seeds 1–3, 1.3 cm long, 0.6 cm wide.

分布

• 台灣 : On rocky soils and limestone in forests along the coast of southern Taiwan.
• 世界 : India, Sri Lanka, Andaman Is., Myanmar, Malaysia, Moluccas, Thailand, southeastern Vietnam, E. Java and the Philippines.
