形態特徵

• Twining herbs, pilose, hairs pale or blackish brown; stems sinistrorse, terete, sulcate, ca. 2 mm thick, spiny, bearing small rounded tubers.
• Compound leaves alternate, 5-foliate, long petiolate; leaflets 5, short petiolate; middle oblanceolate, apex acute or short acuminate, base narrowly cuneate, margins entire, ca. 5-8 cm long, 1-1.7 cm wide, penninerved; lateral leaflets obliquely elliptic, acute at both ends, 4-5 cm long, 1-1.6 cm wide, 2-nerved; petiolules ca. 2 mm long; midrib flat above, elevated beneath, veins and veinlets prominent on both surfaces, petioles 3-3.5 cm long.
• Flowers mostly in axillary single spikes, rachis ca. 5 cm long, each spike bearing ca. 25 flowers; staminate flowers with 6 perianth segments, the outer 3 thick, glabrous, ovate, apex narrowly obtuse, about 1.5 mm long, 1 mm wide, inner 3 ovate-rhomboid, glabrous, equaling outer ones; bracts 2, outer one cordate, apex acuminate, margins irregularly crenate; fertile stamens 3, inserted on perianth tube and alternate to 3 staminodes, bipartite at apex, ca. 0.5 mm long, 0.2 mm wide, rudimentary ovary present.
