形態特徵

• Medium-sized evergreen trees, dioecious, up to 15 m tall; bark slightly rough, reddish- or grayish-brown; branchlets brown, glabrous, nearly smooth when young, older branchlets striate, straw color.
• Leaves chartaceous, very fragile when dry, elliptic, ovate-elliptic or ovate, 10-17 cm long, 3.5-6 cm broad, green, glossy above, glaucous beneath, lower midrib and veins yellowish-green, lateral veins 8-11 pairs; petioles 1.5-2 cm long.
• Staminate inflorescences 3-5 cm long, branched several times, the first pair of branches often prominent; flowers in racemose-umbels; perianth tube 3-lobed, 4-6 mm long, yellow, densely appressed dark rusty-tomentose or pilose outside, obliquely attached to the pedicel; staminal column 2.5 mm long, obtuse at apex; stalk 1 mm long, densely rusty-pilose; anthers 8-10; pedicels 2-3 mm long, densely rusty-tomentose. Pistillate inflorescences shorter; perianth as in the staminate, but urceolate and swollen with reflexed lobes.
• Fruit glabrous, orange, globose to short-ellipsoid, 2.6-2.7 cm long, 2.2-2.4 cm across, rounded and minutely obliquely apiculate at apex, the stalk slender, 1 cm long, 2 mm thick; aril dark red, much divided into narrow banded segments;seeds dark brown, slanting-globose, 1.5-1.8 cm long, 1.6-1.7 cm across.

分布

• 台灣 : only on Lanyu Island, on ridges.
• 世界 : The Philippines, (Luzon, Batan Isl. Samar, Leyte, Mindanao, etc.).
