Perennial herb; stems short, 10-18 cm long, prostrate at base, erect upward, not branched.
Leaves clustered at base, linear, 3-4 cm long, 2-3 mm wide, acute at apex, connate at base, glabrous, entire, lustrous green above, slightly glaucous beneath; cauline leaves somewhat smaller.
Flowers solitary, 1-1.5 cm in diameter, hortizontal or nodding; pedicels 2.5-3.5 cm long, glabrous; calyx tubular-campanulate, 1-1.5 cm long, globrous, 10-nerved, 5-toothed at apex, teeth minute, triangular, 1-2 mm long, acute at apex; petals white but tinged with pink at apex, limbs rectangular, 8-12 mm long, 4-5 mm wide, shallowly 2-lobed at apex, the lobes triangular, 2-2.5 mm long, acute or obtuse; stamens 10.
Capsules oblong, swollen, 1.5-2 cm long, opening by terminal teeth; seeds many, minute.
The flowers of this species are very clearly different from those in other species of the genus in Taiwan. It is therefore treated as a distinct species.
