形態特徵

Culms 6-12 m tall, 3-12 cm in diam., internodes 20-35 cm long; nodes prominent with many branches; walls 0.4-1.2 cm thick.
Sheath of culm deciduous, coriaceous, glabrous; auricles of sheath conspicuous, rounded; ligule of sheath narrow, 1 mm high; blade of sheath narrowly, triangular, glabrous, erect. Leaves 6-15, oblong-lanceolate, 15-30 cm long, 3-6 cm broad, pubescent beneath, spinulose-scabrous along margins, veins 9-14, veinlets 7, subtessellate; petiole short, 2-6 mm long; auricles of leaf conspicuous, with tufts of brown bristles; ligule of leaf truncate or rounded, aristate; sheath of leaf 7-15 cm long, minutely pubescent.
Spikelets in clusters of 3 to 14 at nodes of leafless branches, 2.7-3 cm long, 7-10 mm in diam., 5-9-flowered; glumes 2, ovate, 17 mm long, 13 mm wide, glabrous, veins 31, margins hairy; palea 13 mm long, 4 mm wide, veins 5 between keels, 2 between each keel and edge, densely hairy on keels, along margins; gynoecium 13 mm long; ovary 2 mm long, 1 mm in diam., densely hairy, with 3 vascular strands seen in cross section; style 10 long with 3 feathery stigmas; stamens 6, filaments 23 mm long, anthers 8 mm long, with a tail shaped tip; lodicules 3, ovate-lanceolate, 3.5 mm long, 1 mm wide, hairy on margins.

台灣 : Introduced to Taiwan in early times; widely and commonly cultivated throughout the island.
世界 : Native of southern China.
