形態特徵

• Perennial with short woody rhizome clothed with brown fibers. Culms solitary or few together, erect, triquetrous, 10-50 cm tall, smooth, more or less thickened base leafy.
• Leaves rather many, shorter than to equalling culm; blades linear, 3-6 mm wide, flattish plicate, herbaceous; sheaths pale, eventually becoming brownish or reddish brownish.
• Corymbs simple, open, 3-8 cm wide; rays 3-12, patent, longer ones to 8 cm long, terminated by a spike; spikes cylindrical, 1-2.5 cm long, 6-10 mm wide, densely bearing many spikelets, greenish; leafy bracts 3-8, lower ones surpassing corymb. Spikelets spreading or lower ones more or less reflexed, linear-lanceolate, 3-5 mm long, 0.7 mm wide, bearing 4 or 5 glumes, 1- or 2-fruited; rachilla jointed above base, with white-hyaline lanceolate wings.
• Glumes lanceolate-oblong, obtuse or mucronulate at apex, 3 mm long, inrolled-margined, membranaceous, palegreen, several-nerved, keel 3-nerved, forming an obtuse back. Achenes linear-oblong, ca. 2/3 as long as glume, straw colored, minutely puncticulate; style longer than achene; stigmas 3. Stamens 3.

分布

• 台灣 : Grasslands, waste places of waysides, margin of rice fields, and forest ground near the sea coast.
• 世界 : Tropical Africa, India, Indochina, Malesia, northern Australia; Hawaiian Islands, extending northwards to western Japan.
