形態特徵

• Rather coarse perennial with short, often corm-like rhizome. Culms solitary or few together, erect, 50-100 cm tall, 3-6 mm thick, subterete, rather soft, more or less septate-nodulose.
• Leaves few, slightly longer or shorter than culm; blades elongated, linear, 5-9 mm wide, thickish, flattish, markedly septatenodose; sheaths elongated, cylindrical, septate-nodose, purplish brown.
• Corymbs compound, ample, 6-18 cm long; rays 6-9, patent, longer ones to 15 cm long; secondary corymbs with 4-9 raylets to 2 cm long; spikes nearly globose, 8-20 mm across, bearing many spikelets; leafy bracts 3 to 5, much exceeding corymb. Spikelets jointed at base, radiate, lanceolate to subulate, 5-11 mm long, 0.8-1 mm wide, 3-to 7-flowered, pale green and tinged with sanguineous brown; rachilla with pale-white hyaline wings, jointed above prophyll.
• Glumes erect, appressed to rachilla, linear-oblong, obtuse or suddenly acute at apex, 3-3.5 mm long, pale brown, often tinged with sanguineous brown, slightly shiny, 5-7-nerved back greenish. Achenes linear-oblong, trigonous, 1/2-3/5 as long as glume, yellowish brown, minutely puncticulate; style of medium length; stigmas 3. Stamens 3.

分布

• 台灣 : Marshy places at low altitudes, also in rice fields.
• 世界 : From Madagascar through India and Nepal to southern China and Malesia.
