形態特徵

• Annual or perennial without rhizome; culms esely tufted, 5-30 cm by 0.3-0.7 mm, terete to trigonous, smooth, shallowly striate, glabrous, clothed at base with a few bladeless sheaths.
• Leaves basal, very few; blades filiform, to 4cm by 0.2-0.5 mm, obtuse, canaliculate, often reduced to bladeless sheath; sheaths 1-4 cm long, yellowish brown, truncate at orifice; ligule a row of short hairs.
• Inflorescence a single, terminal or pseudo-lateral spikelet, more rarely 1-2 lateral spikelets added; involucre bract 1, scale-like, midvein occasionally prolonged beyond scale apex into a setaceous blade 3-12 mm long. Spikelet ellipsoidal to oblong-ovate, 5-15 mm by 2.5-4 mm, acute, terete, densely many flowered.
• Glumes many per spikelet, spiral, elliptic to oblong-elliptic, 2.5-3.2 mm by 1-1.3 mm, obtuse, lowest 2 sterile glumes acute, thinly membranaceous, pale brown on upper part, pale and hyaline on margins, keel green, 1-nerved, hardly reach glume apex. Stamens 1-2; anthers 0.8-1 mm long. Style flat, filiform above middle, slightly dilated at base, sparsely ciliate at top; stigmas 2. Achenes obovate, 0.8-1 mm long by 0.5-0.7 mm, biconvex, shortly stipitate, greyish black to greyyish purple at maturity, minutely cancellate with 15-30 vertical rows of tansversely linear epidermal cells, often verruculose on upper part.
