形態特徵

• Erect perennials, 1–2 m tall; stems sharply and distinctly tetragonal, scabrous, hirsute on angles.
• Leaves sessile, chartaceous, lanceolate to oblong-lanceolate, 4–14 cm long, 2.5–5 cm wide, apex acute, base cordate and subauriculate to semiamplexicaul, sharply and unequally serrate from below middle upward, entire toward base, both surfaces hirtellous, scabrous.
• Inflorescence terminal, corymbose-spicate, compactly flowered, subtended by a pair of bracts; bracts lanceolate, 3–8 mm long, apex acuminate; bracteoles lanceolate, 2–3 mm long, each bearing a flower. Flowers blue to reddish-purple; calyx tube ca. 2.5 mm long, 5-toothed, pubescent outside; corolla tube 2.5–3.5 mm long, lobes 5, oblong, ca. 0.8 mm long.
• Fruit subtended by persistent calyx tube, tetragonal.

• 台灣 : naturalized in the northern part.
• 世界 : A native from Brazil and Bolivia southward through South America.
