形態特徵

A fleshy and glabrous perennial herb; stems erect, 30–100 cm high, few branched.
Leaves opposite, the upper ones mostly pinnate, the lower ones simple; leaflets 3–5, elliptic or ovate, crenate, 10–15 cm long, thickly fleshy.
Flowers in panicles, pendulous; calyx cylindric, 2.5–3.5 cm long, purplish green; corolla globose-octagonal at base, greenish white, constricted in the middle, the exserted part reddish-purple, hypogynous; scales subquadrate, free or slightly adhered to the carpels, lobes acuminate; glands 4; stamens 8, adnate to the base of corolla-tube.
Fruit enclosed in the persistent papery calyx and corolla; seeds oblong-ellipsoid, smooth.
