形態特徵

• Medium-sized deciduous trees; trunk straight, 9 m tall, 25 cm across; bark rough, yellowish-brown, peeling off in small pieces; branchlets stramineous-brown, with sparse indistinct lenticels, pubescent, later glabrous; buds narrowly oblong-conical, acute,
• Leaves alternate, sparsely arranged, oblanceolate to oblanceolate-oblong, 4-17 cm long, 1.5-3.6 cm broad, acute to obtuse at apex, attenuate toward base, entire, chartaceous, glabrous above, sericeous-pilose when young, slightly glaucous-glabrate or sparingly pilose beneath except veins when old, ferruginous-purple when dry, midrib and 4-8 pairs lateral veins prominent, densely sericeous-pilose when young, later pilose, veinlets very finely reticulate; petioles 0.5-1.4 cm long, semiterete, with a flat groove above, glabrate or somewhat pubescent.
• Inflorescences umbellate, 10-15-flowered, axillary; peduncles pubescent, 5-10 mm long; involucral bracts 4, deltoid-ovate to rounded, deeply concave within, thinly pubescent, ciliate, sharply acute, 4 mm long, caducous, outer 2 thicker and slightly keeled on back, inner 2 membranaceous; pedicels filiform, sericeous-pubescent, 6-11 mm long in male flowers, 3-5 mm long in female flowers; flowers small, appearing with young Leaves; staminate flowers 5 mm across; tepals 6, ellptic, 3-3.5 mm long, rounded at apex, entire, 1-nerved, slightly pubescent from middle toward base on both surfaces, light yellow; fertile stamens 9, 1st and 2nd whorles of stamens eglandular, 3rd whorl with 2 subreniform and substipitate glands near base of filaments, filaments filiform, those of 3rd whorl broader toward base, anthers round-ellipsoidal, 2-celled; reduced ovary minute, ovoid, glabrous; pistillate flowers 3 mm across, receptacle crateriform; tepals 6, deciduous, subequal, oblong, entire, rounded at apex, 1-nerved, slightly pubescent from middle toward the base on both surfaces, 2-2.3 mm long; reduced stamens 9, clavate-filiform, 3rd whorl of stamens broader in lower half and with 2 minute glands at middle of filaments, glands sessile, subreniform-oblong; ovary ovoid-globose, glabrous, style erect, straight, stigma somewhat dilated, simple or irregularly dichotomous; pedicels 1.2 cm long, hirsute.
• Berry shinning, globose, 7-8 mm across, bright scarlet at maturity, pulp thick, fleshy, oily-yellow, fragrant; pedicels very thick, pubescent or glabrous; seeds globose, testa thin, fulvous brown; tegmen membranaceous, brown, closely adhering to the testa; embryo globose.
