Evergreen scandent shrubs on rocks, walls or trunks of trees, rooting freely from stems, branchlets yellowish- to reddish-brown, puberulous.
Leaves coriaceous, oblong, elliptic or obovate, often oblique, 2–10 cm long, 1–6 cm wide, obtuse or subacute at apex, obtuse at base, glabrous and shining above, somewhat puberulous beneath, entire revolute, primary lateral veins 5–6 pairs, prominent beneath; petioles pubescent, 0.8–1.8 cm long; stipules membranaceous or chartaceous, pubescent, ovate-lanceolate, 0.6–0.8 cm long, acute at apex, fugaceous.
Flowers long-pedicellate, perianth lobes 3–4, stamens 2, sessile; gall flowers long-pedicellate to sessile, perianth lobes 4, linear, ovary sessile, smooth, ovoid or globose, style lateral, stigma dilated; feMale flowers long-pedicellate or sessile, perianth lobes 4–5, ovary sessile, smooth, ellipsoid or obovoid, style lateral, longer that in gall flowers, stigma tapering.
Receptacles solitary or paired, axillary, ovoid, 4–6.5 cm long, 3.5–6.5 cm wide, dark green to blackish-violet, with white dots above, somewhat pubescent; basal bracts 3, membranaceous or chartaceous; stalks short and thick, pubescent, 0.5–1.5 cm long.

分布

台灣 : Very common at low altitudes throughout the island.
世界 : China (E & S), Japan, the Ryukyus, and Northern Indochina.
