形態特徵

Deciduous trees, up to 20 m tall; branchlets dark brown, velutinous and puberulous, glabrescent; bud scales brown, slightly brown puberulous, brown ciliate.
Leaves chartaceous or coriaceous, asymmetrically or symmetrically broadly ovate, ovate to oblong-ovate, 4.5-12 cm long, 2.5-4 cm broad, puberulous or nearly glabrous on upper surface, velutinous and short rufous multicellular hairy on lower surface, apex acuminate, acute to obtuse, base oblique or slightly oblique to symmetrical, acute, obtuse, rounded or slightly cordate, margins serrate, rounded-serrate, serrulate, or sub-entire, lateral veins 3-5 pairs; petioles 5-10 mm long, puberulous.
Flowers solitary, paired, or clustered; calyx 4-lobed, long-ovate, ca. 2 mm long, glabrous, ciliate; stamens 4, filamens ca. 2 mm long; ovary glabrous; pedicels 5-6 mm long, velutinous.
Fruit solitary or paired, globose, 5-8 mm across.

分布

台灣 : along the coast, on plains and in thickets at low to medium elevations throughout, not no Hengchun Peninsula.
世界 : China, Korea, Vietnam, Japan to the Ryukyus.
