形態特徵

• Evergreen trees up to 20 m high, trunks 0.4 m across; barks grayish-brown; branchlets ascending, grayish, with numerous lenticels.
• Leaves oblong, ovate to lanceolate, 5.6–13.5 cm long, 1.8–4.5 cm wide, coriaceous, somewhat glaucous beneath, nearly entire, usually wavy, occasionally dentate (not serrate) toward apex, midrib concave above, elevated beneath, lateral veins 6–10 pairs, deep brown beneath when dry; petioles 1.8–3.8 cm long.
• Staminate flowers in catkins or spikes, ca. 2.5 mm long, 2.5 mm broad; perianth 4–6-lobed, puberulent outside; stamens 4–6, 2.5 mm long, filaments 1.5 mm long, nearly glabrous, anthers 1 mm long, 0.8 mm wide, longitudinally dehiscent. Pistillate flowers 1.5 mm long, 1.2 mm wide; perianth 4–5-lobed, puberulent outside; ovary with 3 styles, hairy, stigmas globose, tuberculate.
• Cupules with 5–7 concentric rings of scales; nut 1.

分布

• 台灣 : found only at 900–1,400 m altitude in the southeastern part of the island.
