型態特徵
Small ferns growing suberect or pendent on rocks or tree trunks; rhizome creeping, usually short; roots covered with a mass of brown hairs; scales clathrate, usually very narrow and hair-pointed; stipitate or sessile, stipes usually containing two vascular bundles. Fronds tufted or approximate, simple, entire (or sometimes forked at apex), venation usually reticulate, forming elongated areolae without included veinlets, epidermis with long thicked-walled sclerids. Sporangia borne along the marginal, or dichotomously forking veins, superficial or more often in soral grooves, paraphyses yellowish to brown, abundant, filiform or club-shaped, simple or branched.

型態特徵
Linear grass-like ferns growing on trees or moss covered rocks; rhizome slender, usually short-creeping, dictyostelic; its fibrous roots covered with a mass of brown hairs; scales brown to black, often iridescent, clathrate, narrowly attenuate. Stipes usually approximate, rarely distant, articulate to rhizome, c. s. with 2 vascular bundles; fronds simple, narrowly linear, entire, costa usually distinct; the oblique, lateral veins uniting at their apices to the continuous submarginal vein; margins often reflexed and tending to roll towards costa in dry weather. Sori linear, usually continuous borne in an apparently marginal groove or in a submarginal line; paraphyses usually branched, ending in clavate, obconical cells.
