型態特徵

Shrubs or trees; stems bearing short shoots with dense clusters of leaves and inflorescences in the leaf axils, juvenile branches hispid; leaves toothed or crenate toward apex. Flowers solitary or 2–7 in a short, bractless, glomerulate inflorescence. Calyx lobes free. Corolla tube short, lobes 5, spreading, obtuse, fornices absent. Stamens with exserted anthers. Ovary entire; style terminal, cleft almost to base, persistent, beaked in fruit; stigma capitate. Fruit drupaceous, subglobose, with 1–4 seeds, endocarp bony, not breaking into pyrenes.
