形態特徵

• Rhizomes yellowish inside, tubers present. Pseudostems 0.6-2 m tall.
• Leaves sessile or short-petiolate; ligule thin, translucent, entire, 1.5-2 cm; leaf blade lanceolate or oblong-lanceolate, 20-40 by 4-8 cm, glabrescent or abaxially somewhat pilose, gradually narrowed towards base, apex acuminate.
• Inflorescences ovoid or conical-ellipsoid, 6-12 by 3.5-5 cm, apex obtuse; peduncle 10-30 cm, with 5-7 scalelike sheaths; bracts closely imbricate, 3-3.5 cm, green when young, red in age, slightly hairy, margin membranaceous; bracteoles ca. 1.5 cm long; calyx 1.2-2 cm long, membranaceous, apex 3-toothed; corolla tube 2-3 cm long, slender; lobes white or pale yellow, lanceolate, central one 1.5-2.5 by ca. 2 cm, lateral ones narrower; labellum 3-lobed, pale yellow; central lobe suborbicular, ca. 2 by 2 cm, apex emarginate; lateral lobes much smaller, obovate, ca. 1 cm long, divided nearly to base; stamen ca. 1 cm long; connective appendage beak-like, ca. 8 mm long; ovary ca. 4 mm long, glabrous.
• Capsule ellipsoid, 12-15 mm long. Seeds black, aril white.

分布

• 世界 : India, Sri Lanka, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, southern China and Taiwan, widely cultivated for medicine.
