形態特徵

• Plants 2.5-4.5 m.
• Leaves sessile or subsessile. Blade 55-82 by 12-17 cm, oblong to lanceolate, apex acuminate, base cuneate, glabrous on both surfaces except margin; ligule 1.5 cm long, entire or bilobed, coriaceous, outer surface hairy.
• Inflorescence a thyrse, curvingly erect, 24-38 cm long, with golden yellow spinous hair, lower branches 0.5-2.0 cm long, with 2 flowers, upper ones with 1 flower, without bract. Flowers pedicellate; bracteole white, 3.5 cm long, apex pink, folded around bud, glabrous, deciduous; calyx white, apex pink, tubular, 2.5-2.7 cm long, shortly 5-lobed, deeply split unilaterally, outer surface minutely pubescent; corolla white, tube 3 cm long, lobes oblong, outer surface sparsely pubescent, margin ciliate, dorsal lobe 5 by 4.5 cm, laterals 5 by 3.5 cm; labellum deep yellow, convolute, 5.5 by 5.0 cm, with red stripes and spots in center, apex emarginate; staminodes yellow, linear, 0.7 cm long, with red stripes; anther 1.5-1.8 cm long; filament 1.2-1.4 cm long; stigma funnel shaped, apex densely hairy; style slender, sparsely hairy; epigynous glandes massive, yellowsih brown, united at one side, 0.4 cm long; ovary yellowish green, villose, 0.9 by 0.8 cm.
• Fruit capsular, orange red, suppressed globose, 1.2-1.5 by 1.6-2.2 cm, costulate, with spinous hairs. Seeds 16-27, angled; aril white, membranaceous.
• The species was proposed as a natural hybrid between <i>A. zerumbet</i> (Persoon) B. L. Burtt & R. M. Smith and <i>A. uraiensis</i> Hayata based on its intermediate morphology.

• 台灣 : low elevations in northern Taiwan.
