形態特徵

• Perennial with short rhizome; culms desely tufted, 5-60 cm by 1-2 mm, obtusely trigonous, smooth, glabrous, base clothed with leaf sheaths and their dusky brown fibrous remnants.
• Leaves basal, many; blades linear, 5-30 cm by 1-4 mm, obtuse, flat or slightly inrolled, scabrous on upper margins; sheaths to 3 cm long, whitish or cinnamon brown; ligule absent.
• Inflorescence compound to decompound, loose to very dense; involucre bracts 1-3, leaf-like, 0.5-1.8 cm long, dilated at base; primary branches 2-8, 1-3 cm long. Spikelets solitary to clustered, oblong-elliptic to ovate-oblong, 2-6 m by1-2.5 mm, obtuse, somewhat angular, densely many-flowered.
• Glumes many per spikelet, tightly spirally imbricated, ovate to broadly ovate, 1-2 mm by 0.5-1.5 mm, obtuse, membranaceous, rusty-brown, margins white-hyaline, slightly keeled, 3-5-nerved. Stamens 1-3; anthers ca. 1 mm long. Style weakly flattened, glabrous, dilated at base; stigmas 2-3. Achenes broadly obovate, 0.7-1 mm by 0.5-0.7 mm, shortly stipitate, dark brown, obcompressed, trigonous to nearly biconvex, smoothish.

• 世界 : Pantropics.
