形態特徵

• Shrubs, stem simple, robust, 1-1.5 m long, erect, usually with persistent leaf scars.
• Leaves ensiform, 1.5-3 m long, 9-15 cm wide, acute to acuminate at apex, obtuse and slightly amplexicual at base, fleshy, margins with rounded-grooved spines and slender curved prickles.
• Scape rising from rosette, erect, 7-10 m tall, erect, branched upward; flowers numerous, in a large terminal compound panicle, rather large, 5-7 cm long, green; perianth tube 3-4 cm long, segments 6, oblong to spatulate, 3-5 cm long, obtuse at apex; ovary 2.5-3.5 cm long.
• Capsules obovoid, slightly stipitate and beaked.

分布

• 台灣 : introduced to Taiwan in 1910, cultivated in the southern tip of the island for its fibers.
• 世界 : Native to tropical America, especially abundant in Mexico.
