形態特徵

• Annual or biennial herbs, stems terete, erect, 40–60 cm tall, usually with many short appressed hairs, branching near base, branches divaricately ascending.
• Radical leaves oblanceolate, 4–6.5 cm long, 2–3.5 mm wide, apex obtuse to acute, base narrowed, entire or shallowly crenate, margins minutely ciliate, glabrous or scarcely strigose on both surfaces, usually withering at anthesis. Cauline leaves numerous, linear-oblanceolate or linear, 2.5–6 cm long, 1–4 mm wide, apex obtuse to acute, base narrowed, sessile, margins entire or remotely serrate toward apex, glabrous or scarcely strigose on both surfaces, margins minutely ciliate; leaves on branches gradually smaller, becoming bract-like toward inflorescence.
• Heads solitary or few on ascending branches or peduncle-like branches, 2.4–3.2 cm across; peduncle 3–5 mm long. Involucre hemispheric or bowl-shaped, 7–9 mm tall, 13–20 mm across, bracts 2- or 3- seriate, herbaceous, green, nearly equal, linear-lanceolate to subulate, entire, margins narrowly transparent, hirsute on outside, apex acuminate to attenuate-acuminate, inner bracts usually slightly longer, 7.6–9.5 mm long, 1–1.4 mm wide, outer bracts 6.5–9.3 mm long, 0.8–1 mm wide. Ray florets 17–25, 1 or 2 seriate, ligules blue-purple, 9.5–12 mm long, 1.5–2.5 mm wide. Disc florets yellow, 4–5 mm long, unequally 5-lobed. Pappus reddish, 4.5–6 mm long at maturity.
• Achenes obovate, compressed, rusty brown, 2.5–4 mm long, 1.5–2 mm wide, sericeous,, glandular above.

• 台灣 : confined to the eastern part, from low to medium elevations; rare, not collected for more than 60 years.
• 世界 : Widespread in eastern Asia.
