A medium-sized tree.
Leaves sessile, obovate or oblong-lanceolate-obovate, base often rounded-truncate, apex obtuse, broadly rounded, slightly emarginate or somewhat acuminate, entire, coriaceous, shining, glabrous, 20–50 cm by 10–20 cm; larger leaves often alternating with smaller ones.
Racemes terminal, erect, 4–20-flowered; pedicels 5–9 cm long; calyx-tube 3–5 cm long, at first closed, afterwards 2–3 lobed; petals broadly oval, white, 5–6 cm long; filaments and style white, red-tipped; outer filaments 7–9 cm long; style 11–13 cm long; ovary 4-angular.
Fruit broadly pyramidal, obtuse, 4-angular, 10–11 cm long, with thick pericarp, brown.
