形態特徵

A large evergreen tree; branchlets glabrous.
Leaves ovate or obovate, 3—6.5 cm long, 1.5—3.5 cm broad, the apex acuminate-caudate, the veins obscure; petioles 5—9 mm long.
Inflorescence fasciculate, axillary.
Drupe globose, 4 mm across; stigma discoid; pyrenes 4, 3-striate.
Hu in 1950 recorded this Chinese species as present also on Taiwan on the basis of Fukuyama in 1938. In her 1953 treatment of the Taiwan species of Ilex, however, this species is not on the list. The species is tentatively retained here pending further study.
