A deciduous tree, up to 8 m tall; branchlets purplish, pubescent when young.
Leaves ovate to ovate-oblong, 5–10 cm long, 2.5–4 cm wide, pubescent when young, glabrous at length, the apex acuminate, the base cuneate to obtuse, rarely rounded, the margin serrulate; petioles 1–3 cm long; stipules linear-lanceolate.
Flowers 4–6 in a terminal umbel; pedicels 3–6 cm long, glabrous; calyx-lobes triangular-ovate, 4–5 mm long, pubescent inside, deciduous after anthesis; petals white, obovate, 1.5 cm long; stamens about 20; styles 3, long-hairy at base.
Pome ellipsoid to globose, about 1 cm across, yellowish-red when ripe.
