形態特徵

• Bushy shrub 0.5-1.3 m tall; branches spreading; branchlets 2(4)-lined when young, eventually usually terete.
• Leaves sessile or with petiole up to 1.5 mm long; lamina 2-11.2 cm long, 1-4.1 cm broad, elliptic or oblong to oblanceolate, apex acute to rounded, base cuneate to rounded, chartaceous, paler beneath, with conspicuous dense reticulate venation and only pale glandular dots.
• Inflorescence 1-15(-30)-flowered, terminal (1-3 nodes), corymbose, rarely with 1-2 pairs of axillary flowering branches; flowers 3-6.5 cm in diam., plane or convex, in bud ovoid, subacute; sepals 4.5-13 mm long, 1.5-6 mm broad, narrowly elliptic or narrowly oblong to lanceolate or oblanceolate, acute to rounded, with entire margin, ± erect in fruit; petals 20-34 mm long, 12-20 mm broad, obovate, golden yellow to lemon-yellow, deciduous; stamen fascicles 5, deciduous, each with 25-35 stamens; anthers yellow, with amber gland; ovary 2.5-5 mm long, broadly ovoid to subglobose, 5-locular, styles 3.5-5 times as long, united almost to apex.
• Capsule 6-10 mm long, 4-7 mm broad, broadly ovoid;Seeds ca. 1.3 mm long, dark reddish-brown, narrowly carinate.
• <i>Hypericum monogynum</i> has been cultivated in Japan and (?) Taiwan for a long time. The Taiwan form, which has leaves somewhat intermediate between the upland ('var. <i>salicifolium</i>' Sieb. & Zucc.) and lowland ('var. <i>obtusifolium</i>') Chinese forms and solitary flowers, cannot be treated as distinct owing to the occurrence of continuous variation.

• 台灣 : In dry areas (slopes, roadsides, etc.) at low altitudes. Widely cultivated.
• 世界 : Mainland China. Introduced into Japan and possibly Taiwan.
