形態特徵

• Perennial herbs with horizontal rhizomes.
• Leaves centrally peltate, margins entire or slightly wavy, circular, 20-60 cm in diameter, pale green to green, glabrous above, green beneath; petioles 1-2 m long, short spined.
• Flowers showy, solitary, 10-25 cm across, fragrant; peduncle 1-2 m long, sepals 4 or 5, caducous; petals many, broadly elliptic, concave, white or pink; stamens numerous.
• Fruit aggregate, embedded in an enlarged receptacle, ellipsoid or ovoid, 1-1.7 cm long, the top protruding, reddish-brown.

分布

• 台灣 : Widely cultivated in Taiwan. Rhizomes and seeds are used as food and leaves as wrappers.
• 世界 : Southern Russia, Asia, India and Australia.
