形態特徵

Shrubs or trees, 2-8 m tall. Young branchlets 1.5-3 mm in diam.
Leaves alternate or clustered at apex and nodes of branchlets; petioles 7-20 mm long; lamina narrowly obovate, narrowly oblong-elliptic or elliptic, 4-12 cm long, 1.5-4 cm broad, coriaceous, base attenuate, margin slightly recurved, apex acute to gradually acuminate, costa raised on upper surface, 2-2.5 mm wide, prominent beneath, secondary nerves 4-7 per side, prominent or obscure on both surfaces.
Flower buds ovoid; flowers axillary or congested toward apex of branchlets; pedicel 5-25 mm long. Perianth segments 15-24, whitish or yellowish, elliptic, obovate-oblong, narrowly oblong or lingulate, flat, thin-carnose. Stamens 16-25, usually in 2-series, connective slightly emarginate to obtuse-cuspidate. Carpels 7-9(-10), 3.5-5 mm long; stigma 2-3.3 mm long.
Fruit 2.5-3 cm in diam.; pedicel 10-25 mm long, 1.5-2 mm in diam.; follicles 7-8, apex rostrate, rostrum 2-4 mm long.Seeds yellowish, 6-7 mm long.;
Chromosome number n =14.

台灣 : wet, evergreen, broad-leaved forests in mountains at 1,000-2,500 m.
世界 : Eastern Asia, from Japan, south Korea, the Ryukyus and Taiwan to the Philippines.
