Evergreen shrubs with reddish brown, minutely pubescent branchlets.
Leaves coriaceous, glabrous, obovate-oblong, 6–13 cm long, 2–6 cm wide, short at apex, cuneate-acute at base, entire, with 3 main veins, primary lateral veins 5–7 pairs, prominent beneath; petioles less than 1 cm long, slightly pubescent; stipules linear to ovate-lanceolate, densely puberulous.
Male, gall and feMale flowers mixed; Male flowers few, near apex of receptacle, short pedicellate, perianth lobes 3–4, longer than stamen, stamen 1, filament short; gall flowers pedicellate, perianth lobes 4–6, lanceolate, acute at apex, ovary oblique, ovoid, style lateral, long, stigma dilated; feMale flowers sessile, perianth lobes 4–6, linear, acute, style lateral, long, stigma bifid, one branch longer than other.
Receptacles yellowish or orange-red, solitary or paired, axillary, globose or depressed-globose, 1.5 cm across, tuberculate; basal bracts none; stalks with short brown hairs, 0.5–1 cm long.
