形態特徵

• Evergreen trees to 70 cm in diameter; bark grayish; branches with lenticels.
• Leaves oblong-lanceolate to lanceolate, 8–18 cm long, 1.5–5 cm broad, acuminate to caudate at apex, cuneate to obtuse at base, entire, somewhat glaucous below, midrib prominent on both sides, lateral veins 6–12 pairs; petioles 0.6–1.5 cm long.
• Staminate flowers 1.5 mm long, 1.2 mm broad; perianth 6-lobed, puberulent outside, nearly glabrous inside; stamens 12, 1.4 mm long. Pistillate flowers usually solitary, sometimes 2-clustered, 3 mm long; perianth 6-lobed; ovary 3-celled, each cell with 1–2 ovules, styles 3, stigmas pointed; involucre often stalked.
• Cupules hemispheric to urceolate, 1.2 cm long, 2 cm across, scales distinct, sparse, enclosing 1/2–3/4 of nut, short-stalked;nuts globose, 1.7–2 cm long, 1.8–2 cm across.

物候

Staminate flowers blooming from February to April; fruits maturing from October to December.

分布

• 台灣 : In forests at altitudes of 300–1,000 m in the southern part, especially common in such places as Chinshuiying, Tawu, and on the Hengchun Peninsula.
