形態特徵

• Culms 2-5 m tall, 0.5-1.5 cm in diam., internodes 15-30 cm long; nodes minutely prominent with single branch, occasionally with 2 or 3 branches at upper nodes. Sheath of culm persistent; minutely hairy when young, entire; auricles of sheath small or inconspicuous, with a few short bristles; ligule of sheath rounded; blade of sheath linear-lanceolate, glabrous, entire.
• Leaves 5-9, oblong; lanceolate, 8-30 cm long, 1-4.5 cm broad, acute, base cuneate, veins 3-7, veinlets 7, tessellate; petioles 0.2-0.5 cm long; auricles of leaf inconspicuous; ligule of leaf convex, entire; sheath of leaf glabrous.
• Spikelets linear, 1.5- 4.5 cm long, 3-4 mm in diam., 2-7-flowered; glumes 2; lemmas ovate, 13 mm long, veins 17-23; palea shorter than lemma, 11 mm long, veins 4 between keels and 2-3 between each keel and edge, densely hairy on keels; gynoecium 5-7 mm long; ovary ovate, glabrous, with 4 vascular strands seen in cross section; style short with 3 feathery stigmas; stamens 3-4, filaments 7-10 mm long, anthers 6 mm long; lodicules 3, ovate, 3-4 mm long, hairy along margins.
• Fruit olive shaped, 11 mm long, 3.5 mm in diam., acute at apex, rounded at base, glabrous.

分布

• 台灣 : Introduced in Taiwan, planted in Taipei, Taichung, Chiayi, Nantou and Kaohsiung for ornamental purposes.
• 世界 : Native of Japan.
