形態特徵

• Culms stout, ca. 3 mm across.
• Blade linear, to 20 cm long, basal part covered with long hairs; ligule rounded, hispid abaxially.
• Inflorescence a large panicle, ca. 15 cm long, 5 cm wide. Spikelets paired, dimorphic, upper pedicellate, pedicel with a translucent longitudinal groove; lower sessile, lower; glume lanceolate, acute, chartaceous, 3-nerved, margins inrolled, ca. 3.6 mm long; upper glume chartaceous, 7-nerved, lanceolate, margins inrolled, ciliate abaxially and margins, decorated with a concave spot on upper part; upper lemma aristate, awn 6 times its length of lemma, flexuous, 1-nerved; upper palea hyaline, linear-lanceolate, margins folded, ca. 2.2 mm long; anther ca. 1.2mm long.
• This is a rather coarse grass, but is reported being an excellent fodder.

• 台灣 : one of the common grasses, much more common in the south.
• 世界 : India and Malaysia.
