形態特徵

• Culms 3-7 m tall, 1-3 cm in diam., internodes smooth, 8-30 cm long; nodes prominent; branches 2-9 in clusters at each node.
• Sheath of culm persistent, coriaceous, glabrous, fimbriate along margins; auricles of sheath small; ligule of sheath truncate, 2 mm high; blade of sheath broadly linear, acute with marginal hairs. Leaves 5-9, narrow lanceolae or broadly linear, 10-30 cm long, 1-3 cm broad, acute, veins 3-9, tessellate, veinlets 5-7, spinulose-scabrous along one margin, sparsely so along other; petiole short; auricles of leaf nearly inconspicuous, with tufts of white bristles when young; ligule of leaf convex, truncate; sheath of leaf glabrous.
• Spikelets broadly linear-lanceolate, 3-8 cm long, 4-9-flowered; glumes 1 or 2; lemmas ovate-oblong, 10-18 mm long, veins 9-13, hairy along upper between each keel and edge, densely hairy on keel; ovary cylindric, 6-10 mm long, glabrous with 3 vascular strands in cross section; style short with 3 feathery stigmas; stamens 3, filaments 10 mm long, anthers 9-11 mm long; lodicules 3, 2.5-4 mm long, densely hairy along margins.
• Fruit cylindric-elliptic, dark brown, glabrous, 12-13 mm long, 3-3.5 mm in diam., grooved abaxially, acute at apex, rounded at base.

• 台灣 : Introduced in Taiwan; planted in Taipei, Taichung, Chiayi and Kaohsiung for ornamental purposes.
• 世界 : Native of China.
