形態特徵

• Culm arising from short, thick rhizome, 80-120 cm tall, trigonous, several-nodose, leaved, scaberulous on angles on upper part.
• Leaves many, aggregated at base of culm and several upper ones on culm; blades broadly linear, 8-20 mm wide; flattish, herbaceous or thinly coriaceous, gradually longacuminate at apex; sheaths elongated, basal ones strawbrown or light brown.
• Corymbs 2-4, on upper part of culm, compound; or decompound, rather continuous, 10-15 cm long and as broad; bracts leaf like, shorter than to much longer than corymb, sheathing at base; corymb rays many, longer to 12 cm long; final raylets terminated by a cluster of spikelets of 2-5. Spikelets lanceolate or elliptic, terete, 7-10 cm long, rusty or orange brown, bearing 1 fruit; glumes obscurely 2-ranked, lower ones ovate, upper ones oblong-ovate, 2.5-6 mm long, membranaceous, light brown, 1-nerved, acute at muticous apex.
• Achenes obdeltoid-obovate, 3-3.5 mm long, yellow-brown, dull, finely transversely wrinkled in median portion, coarsely undulate-rugose towards margins; style-base elongated-conical, as long as or slightly longer than achene body, furrowed in median portion; style elongated, scarcely divided at apex. Hypogynous bristles 6, 4-5 mm long, brown, upwardly scabrid.

分布

• 台灣 : In marshes.
• 世界 : Widely distributed in the tropics of both hemispheres, but rather rare in Taiwan.
