形態特徵

• Annual with fibrous roots only. Culms tufted, 10-40 cm tall, lower part decumbent, rooting, often branching at nodes, upper part erect to erect-ascending.
• Leaves borne on lower part of culms, shorter than culm; blades linear, 2-3 mm wide, flattish plicate; sheaths pale-green or lower ones stained with brown.
• Corymbs with 2-5 short rays or more or less congested in a head-like cluster, 2-6 cm long and as wide, rays 1-4 cm long; spikes short, densely bearing 4 to 12 spikelets; leafy bracts 3 or 4, spreading, surpassing corymb. Spikelets linear-oblong or lanceolate-oblong, subacute at apex, 1-2 cm long, 2-3.5 mm wide, flattened, 10-30-flowered, sanguineous-brown; rachilla tetragonous.
• Glumes ovate to broadly so, 2-2.5 mm long, obtuse at apex, membranaceous, 3- or 5-nerved, pale brown to sanguineous brown, furrowed on both sides, keel rather broadly straw-green. Achenes broadly obovate, laterally lenticular, 1/2-3/5 as long as glume, maturing black, minutely puncticulate; style to 3 times as long as achene; stigmas 2.

• 世界 : Widely distributed in temperate and subtropical regions of the Old World, from Africa to Malesia and Japan.
