形態特徵

• Perennial, laxly tufted with long creeping rhizome. Culms close together or spaced along rhizome, erect, 10-45 cm tall, triquetrous, not thickened at base.
• Leaves many, usually shorter than culm; blades linear, 2-5 mm wide, rather soft, flattish; sheaths brown to purplish brown.
• Inflorescence a single head, bearing a globose central spike and 2 or 3 small lateral spikes, central spike 5-10 mm long by 5-7 mm across, densely bearing many spikelets, whitish; leafy bracts 3 or 4, spreading to reflexed, lowest to 30 cm long. Spikelets ovate-elliptic to lanceolate-ovate, 2.7-3.5 mm long, ca. 1.5 mm wide, 1-flowered.
• Glumes usually 5, lowest two smaller and narrow, 1-l.5 mm long, remaining glumes 2.5-3.5 mm long, boat shaped, thinly membranaceous, whitish and eventually becoming straw-colored, variegate with rusty brown, 3- or 4-nerved on each side, broadly winged on acute green keel, wing serrulate, keel ending in a short usually recurved cusp. Achenes oblong-obovate or suborbicular, biconvexed, 1.25-1.5 mm long, maturing brownish; stigmas 2. Stamens 3.

分布

• 世界 : Pantropical; common in the Old World tropics, rare in American tropic grasslands and forest floors.
