形態特徵

• Bulbs ovoid to obovoid, 4-5 cm in diam.; scales fleshy, imbricate, white, often spotted red; stem ascending, 30-70 cm long, glabrous, brownish in age.
• Leaves ellipsoid to ellipsoid-lanceolate, 7-12 cm long, 3-5 cm wide, apex acute to acuminate, base obtuse, entire, chartaceous, glabrous on both surfaces, many-nerved; nerves slightly impressed on upper surface, elevated beneath; sometimes bulbils present in leaf axils.
• Flowers solitary, showy, widely spreading, horizontal, white with red or purplish red spots or specks; bracts foliaceous; pedicel 1-3 cm long, green, glabrous; tepals reflexed, outer ones broadly lanceolate, 5-8 cm long, 3-4 cm wide, apex acute to subobtuse; inner ones oblong, 4-5 cm wide, apex obtuse; filaments 5-7 cm long; anthers reddish, 1-2 cm long; ovary cylindric, 1.5-2 cm long, glabrous, green; style curved upward; stigma slightly trifid.
• Fruit a capsule, oblong, 5-6 cm long, 2.5-3 cm in diam.; seeds 7-8 mm long, winged.

分布

• 台灣 : 200-700 m in the north.
• 世界 : The typical variety is in Japan; variety gloriosoides is in southern China and Taiwan.
