形態特徵

• Small shrubs, to 2 m tall; branchlets gray pubescent, glabrescent.
• Leaves 3-foliolate and simple intermixed, simple leaves oblong or ovate, 2.5–7 cm long, 1.5–3 cm wide, apex rounded or obtuse, base obtuse or rounded, margin entire, upper surface densely gray pubescent, lower surface very densely gray pubescent, petiole 0.5–2 cm long, densely gray pubescent; leaflets obovate or oblanceolate, sessile or subsessile, central one largest, to 6 cm long, apex acute or obtuse, base cuneate, margin entire.
• Inflorescences terminal, thyrses, densely gray pubescent. Flowers purplish blue; calyx cup-shaped, ca. 3 mm long, densely gray pubescent outside, teeth broadly triangular; corolla ca. 8 mm long, gray pubescent outside, villous inside; stamens exserted, villous in lower part; ovary glabrous.
• The populations at Miaoli and Taichung have sessile or subsessile, obovate leaflets. These characters do not match those of typical <i>Vitex trifolia</i> L., which has the central leaflets petiolulate and the leaflets lanceolate. We tentatively follow Moldenke and Moldenke's treatment and use the typical name for the Taiwan plants.

• 台灣 : in open places and bank of rivers.
• 世界 : S. and SE. Asia, Australia, Pacific islands and China.
