形態特徵

• A medium-sized tree up to 5 m high or more; trunks erect; bark greyish-brown, longitudinally grooved, sparsely lenticellate; young shoots densely covered with deciduous, hoary, stellate hairs; branches terete, greyish-brown, rather glabrous.
• Leaves coriaceous, broadly ovate-elliptic, 5–19 cm long, 3.3–13.5 cm wide, acute or acuminate at apex, oblique, with one side obtuse and the other cordate at base, 4–5-nerved, simple, occasionally doubly serrate or dentate, the upper surface green, scabrous, covered with brown, stellate hairs, the lower surface grey, covered with grey, stellate hairs; nerves distinct below; young leaves grey, chartaceous, thick, together with petioles and stipules densely covered with hoary, stellate hairs; petioles grey, 0.6–1.5 cm long, broadly enlarged at apex; stipules 2, deciduous, lanceolate, acute, 0.9–1.2 cm long, 0.15 cm wide.
• Umbels clustered, axillary, densely covered with hoary, stellate hairs; peduncles 1–6, slim and soft, 8–15 mm long; pedicels 3–5, slim and soft, 6–8.5 mm long; bracteoles 1–2, cuneate-lanceolate, 3–5 mm long; buds oblong, 7.5 mm long, 4 mm thick, longitudinally ribbed and grooved; sepals 5, oblong-linear, acuminate at apex, narrowed at center, truncate at base, 10 mm long, 2.5 mm wide, valvate, much reflexed during anthesis, grey, tomentose without, sparsely ciliate within; petals 5, oblong-lanceolate, 5 mm long, 2 mm wide, tomentose along margins and without, glandular within; glands circular, 2.5 mm wide in diameter; gonophore long; stamens numerous; filaments slender, 5–6.5 mm long; ovary ovoid, ciliate; style slender, 4-(10) mm long, ciliate at base; stigma slightly lobed, densely papillate, usually exposing among anthers.
• Fruit drupaceous, not lobed, subglobose, conical at apex, 5–6 mm in diameter, densely covered with hoary hairs, 1–2-celled, the cells 1-seeded.
