形態特徵

An undershrub, glabrous, erect, 1.0–2.5 m high, much branched; stems usually purplish; branches elongated.
Leaves membranaceous, oblong or ovate-lanceolate, 4–14 cm long, 0.75–5.5 cm wide, narrowly acuminate or acute at apex, rounded at base, serrate, bitailed, 3-nerved, glabrescent on both surfaces; petioles pubescent, especially above, 0.5–6 cm long; stipules 2, linear, 0.5-0.8 cm long.
Flowers 4 mm long, caulifloral on internodes, (1-) 2(3–5) together, umbellate; peduncles very short; pedicels short, less than 1 mm long; buds brown obovate; sepals 5, often purplish, lanceolate, 3 mm long; petals 5, yellow, obovate, 4.0–6 mm long; gonophore short, glandless; stamens many; filaments 3 mm long; ovary obconical, truncate-impressed at apex; style slim, 1.5 mm long; stigma enlarged.
Capsules globose-obovoid, impressed, not beaked at apex, up to 7.0–13 mm in diameter, deeply longitudinally grooved, cross-rugose, coarsely warty, muricate, 5(–6)-valved; seeds 2-seriate, separated by obscure ridges in every cell, 2.5 mm long, irregularly semiglobose.

分布

台灣 : In open, waste places and cultivated lands. Flowering between October and January.
世界 : Wild in the Tropics, commonly cultivated.
