形態特徵

• An evergreen tree; bark dark gray
• leaves alternate, thinly coriaceous, oblong, the apex acute, the base acute or obtuse, 19–20 cm long, 5–8 cm broad, the margins entire or remotely serrulate, glabrous, the midrib slightly impressed above, prominently elevated beneath, the lateral veins 6–8 on each side of the midrib, the veinlets reticulate, slightly elevated on both surfaces; petioles 1–3 cm long.
• Flowers in short cymes, axillary or terminal, slightly pubescent; pedicels 3–4 mm long, pubescent; sepals 4, broadly ovate, 6 mm long, 3 mm broad, pubescent; petals 4–5, broadly ovate, about 8 mm long, 6 mm broad, irregularly laciniate at the top; stamens numerous, the filaments pubescent, about 4 mm long, the anthers linear, about 1.5 mm long; ovary 4-celled, each 1 ovuled, style 6–7 mm long.
• Capsule ellipsoid, 1.5–2 cm long, 1.2–1.8 cm broad, covered densely with brownish strigose hairs, dehiscing into 4 valves.

分布

• 台灣 : Endemic. In forest at low altitudes throughout the island.
