形態特徵

A small tree up to 5 m high, sometimes higher; densely pubescent on whole plant body (except upper leaf surface), branchlet angled when young.
Leaves oblong-ovate, oblong-elliptic or oblong-lanceolate, 7–13.5 cm long, 3–5 cm broad, obtuse or acute at apex, truncate-obtuse and oblique at base, the lateral veins 5–8 on each side, veins conspicuously raised beneath; petiole 3–6 mm long; stipules triangular, acute or acuminate, sometimes hooked at apex.
Flowers in axillary clusters, 5–15 flowers per cluster, with a few staminate flowers and some pistillate flowers; calyx-lobes 6, biseriate, pubescent; disc absent. Staminate flowers: sepals spreading, yellow-green, ovate, unequal, the outer ones larger; stamens 3 (rarely 4), filaments connate into a column; pedicels long. Pistillate flowers: sepals as staminate flower, but not spreading, green; styles connate into a column, depressed-globose, 7–8-sulcate, persistent in fruit; ovary, 5–8-celled, hairy; pedicels short, 3–5 mm long in fruit.
Capsule depressed-globose, 8–10 mm across, 10–16-sulcate, densely pubescent. Seeds red, hemispherical, 3–3.5 mm long.

分布

台灣 : Throughout the island except the northern parts, very common.
世界 : Southern China, the Philippines and Malaysia.
