形態特徵

• An evergreen tree, up to 15 m high; young branchlets hirsute, soon glabrate.
• Leaves odd-pinnate, alternate, glabrous; leaflets (3-)5(–7), opposite, the apex acuminate to short caudate, the base acute to obtuse, the first pairs obovate ot obovate-lanceolate, 3.5–4 cm long, 1.2–1.8 cm wide, the terminal one obovate-to obovate-lanceolate, 5.5–10 cm long, 1.5–3 cm wide, pale green beneath petiole pulvinous.
• Flowers terminal raceme; calyx campanulate, less than half long of corolla, 5-lobed, the lobe triangular, longer than the tube, about 3–4 mm long, covered brownish hairs densely; calyx tube 1 mm long; corolla whitish, 1.5 cm long, with claws 3–4 mm long, the standard 12 mm wide, the base wider than the apex, rounded at apex, the wing long fan-shape, the midrib veins middle, the keel free, oblong, midrib veins along margin, ovate-rectangular; stamens 10, free; pistils fulvopubescent all over, the gynophore 1 mm long, the stigma terminal, reflexed inwardly bilobed dehiscent, pubescent.
• Fruits woody, 12–15 cm long, dehiscent, 1–3-seeded, flat, slightly jointed to globose when 2–3-seeded, the stalk 7–10 mm long, the gynophore in fruit under 2 mm long; seeds 1–4, scarlet, depressed-globose, 1 cm across; hilum 3 mm long.

分布

• 台灣 : Endemic, found only in the central part of the island of the evergreen forests at the altitude of 300–1,000 m high.
