形態特徵

Small Trees or shrubs; young branchlets and terminal buds densely pubescent.
Leaves coriaceous, oblong, oblong-lanceolate or oblanceolate, 8–12 cm long, 2–4 cm wide, green, glabrous above, slightly pubescent beneath when young, apex obtuse or rounded, usually retused, base acute or cuneate, margins remotely crenate in upper part, midrib impressed above, veins obscure on both surfaces; petioles 5–10 mm long.
Flowers axillary or subterminal, solitary or in pairs, nearly sessile; bracts deciduous, subrounded, densely pubescent without; sepals 5, obovate, 1.5–2 long, densely pubescent without; petals 5, white, obovate, 3–4.5 cm long, emarginate at apex, pubescent without; stamens numerous, unequal, filaments 1.5–2 cm long; ovary pubescent, styles 1.5–2 cm long.
Capsule oblong or oblong-ovoid, 2–3.5 cm long, pilose;Seeds compressed, oblong, 1.5–2 cm long.
Morphological and phylogenetic evidences (Prince and Parks, 2001; Yang et al., 2004) revealed that the species from Asian and American <i>Gordonia s. l. </i>could be separated into two independent clades. Therefore, the genus <i>Polyspora</i> which was typified by the Asian specimen is accepted here.

分布

台灣 : in broad-leaved forests at low to medium altitudes (0–2,300 m).
世界 : S China and Vietnam.
