形態特徵

Evergreen shrubs ca. 1.3 m tall.
Leaves 3-5 in fascicles, coriaceous, subsessile, obovate-oblanceolate, 2.7-4 cm long, 0.8-1.3 cm wide, acute, strongly spinose-serrate, green and shining on upper surface, glaucous on lower surface, marginal spines rigid, spreading-ascending, to 2 mm long, 2-4 pairs.
Flowers 2-5-fascicled; pedicles 0.4-0.7 cm long; sepals 9-13, in 3-4 series, the outer broadly ovate, 1.8-2.5 mm long, innermost broadly elliptic, 4.8-5.8 mm long; petals 4-6, obovate, 3.3-5 mm long, with 2 basal glands inside; ovules 3-5.
Fruit broad ellipsoid, ca. 8 mm long and 5 mm across, stigma sessile.

台灣 : 2,600-3,600 m in the central ranges.
