形態特徵

  • Small Evergreen trees; branchlets terete, glabrous; buds ovoid-globose, perulate, scales glabrous or glabrate, imbricate.
  • Leaves obovate, ellpitic or rarely oblanceolate, 3.5-7 cm long, 1.5-3.5 cm broad, coriaceous, rounded-obtuse or rarely acute at apex, cuneate at base, entire, slightly revolute, glabrous on both surfaces, midrib flattened to slightly concaved above, elevated beneath, lateral veins 5-6 pairs, slightly elevated on both surfaces, the veinlets distinctly reticulate, petioles 5-10 mm long, glabrous.
  • Inflorescences cymose-panicles, few-flowered, terminal, glabrous to glabrate; peduncles 2.5 cm long; pedicels 4.5 mm long; receptacles 0.5 mm long, glabrate outside, villous inside; flowers 2 mm long, 3 mm broad; tepals 6, glabrate outside, puberulous to glabrate inside, subequal, outer ones 3, 1.6 mm long, 1.4 mm broad, ovate, inner ones 3, broadly ovate, 2 mm long, 1.5 mm broad, villous at base inside; fertile stamens 9, 1st and 2nd whorles of stamens adnate to base of tepals, eglandular, filaments 1 mm long, barbate at base, anthers 4-celled, elliptic, 0.7 mm long, 0.5 mm broad, glabrous, introrse, 3rd whorl glandular, anthers extrorse; ovary glabrous, globose, 0.8 mm long, style 1.3 mm long, glabrous.
  • Berry compressed-globose, 1.3 cm across, blackish, with persistent reflexed enlarged tepals at base.

flowering March to October; maturing December to March.

  • 台灣 : lowlands on the Hengchun Peninsula.
