Medium-sized trees; branchlets terete, longitudinally rugose, glabrous, grayish-yellow when dry.
Leaves alternate, chartaceous, glabrous, elliptic or ovate-oblong, 10-18 cm long, 6-8 cm broad, acute at apex, obtuse to acute at base, entire, midrib slightly impressed, concave above, prominently elevated beneath, lateral veins 8-10 pairs, elevated on both surfaces, reticulate veinlets distinctly elevated on both surfaces; petioles 2-3 cm long, furrowed above, black when dry.
Inflorescences paniculate, axillary, near tips of branchlets, glabrous; peduncles 7-12 cm long, pedicels 3 mm long; bracts minute, black when dry; flowers campanulate; tepals 6, coriaceous, glabrous, broadly ovate, 1.2 mm long, 1.4 mm broad; 1st, 2nd and 4th whorles of stamens reduced to staminodia, 2nd whorl staminodia spatulate, 1.1 mm long, densely tomentose on upper part inside, somewhat pubescent outside, 4th staminodia subulate, densely tomentose, 3rd whorl of stamens 3, perfect, densely tomentose, anthers extrorse, 2-celled, 1.3 mm long, with 2 sessile glands at base; ovary ovoid, partly immersed in the receptacle, style 1.5 mm long, filiform.
Fruit ellipsoid, 3.5-4.5 cm long, 2.3-2.5 cm across, on a thick fleshy reddish dotted pedicel, black at maturity; peduncles 12 cm long; pedicels ca. 3-4 cm long, 1-1.5 cm across.
