Medium sized Evergreen trees to 25 m tall, 0.6 m across; bark grayish brown or grayish black; branchlets terete; young branchlets yellowish brown tomentose or short-haired; buds small, yellowish brown tomentose or short-haired.
Leaves subopposite, coriaceous, oblong to obovate-oblong, 7-9 (14) cm long, 3-4 cm broad, acuminate, acute or often rounded at apex, acute or cuneate at base, glabrous, midrib pubescent beneath, yellowish above, yellowish light brown beneath when dry, lateral veins 7-8 pairs, veinlets prominently reticulate; petioles 0.6-1 cm long, brown-tomentose.
Inflorescence sub-terminal or axillary panicles, hirsute, ca. 3-6 cm long, short soft-haired; flowers white to yellowish green; pedicels 1-2 mm long; tepals 6, ovate-elliptic, obtuse, slightly pubescent outside; fertile stamens 9, ca. 3 mm long, filaments with short soft hairs at base, anthers of the 1st and 2nd whorles of stamens introrse, eglandular, the anthers of the 3rd whorl of stamens extrorse, with 2 sessile glands; staminodes ovoid, acuminate, stipitate, hirsute; ovary ellipsoid, glabrous, style ca. 1.5 mm long.
