Ascending herbs, to 80 cm tall; stems strigose at least on upper portion; nodes enlarged.
Leaves elliptic to obovate, 10–14 cm long, 5.5–7 cm wide, apex acuminate, base cuneate, upper margins ciliate, both surfaces moderately strigose; petioles 0.5–1.5 long; ocreae tubular, 0.5–1 cm long, apex truncate, strigose.
Inflorescences 2–4-flowered fascicles in spike-like panicles, terminal, interrupted, 15–35 cm long; peduncles strigose, 2–5 cm long; bracts oblique funnelform, strigose, apex acute, upper margins ciliate. Flowers pink; pedicels exserted; perianth segments 4, broadly ovate, ca. 3 mm long, apex acute; stamens 5; styles deeply 2-cleft, exserted, persistent, hooked; nectaries present.
Achenes brown, biconvex, smooth, shining, ca. 3 mm long.

台灣 : in woods and thickets, and on shady roadsides at middle and high altitudes.
世界 : SW, S, C & E China, Indochina, the Himalayas, Russia Far East, Korea, Japan and the Ryukyus.
